Fun on A Friday from Humble Quilts

It has been awhile since I went to the Early Bird Pajama sale at the Stitchin' Post! It used to open at 6AM, last Saturday it was 8Am. (oh so much better!)
Because I had just been to Houston and many quilt shops there wasn't anything I needed.

I asked Carrie if she wanted to meet we could get caught up over coffee after we shopped.

Because I use matching thread when I'm machine appliqueing this looks like it would be terrific.

I think it is 50weight, but I'm not sure.

I've never heard of Ruby ...

A Bit of This and That from Life In Pieces

We had a family wedding to attend last weekend.  We hit the road Thursday afternoon, so there wasn't a lot of time in the sewing room last week.  I did get the binding made and attached to Rhododendron (Bonnie Hunter).  That was my only sewing time over the weekend. With all the activities, I didn't get very far, just one corner turned at this point.

I should make better progress with this now that we are home. You can really see the quilting Trudy did in the dark purple part of the backing.  It's lovely.

The wedding ...

Missouri Road Trip Finale from Humble Quilts

I found this blog post I never finished! Here it is!

I made plans to meet up with Jessica, who works for Missouri Star and lives close by.

She is fun and a talented quilter!

Oh yeah, she collects quilts too! She didn't mind that I paparazzied around her house.

Works in Progress- Super organized!

We even got to shop her stash! hahaha

We had a little time before we needed to be at the airport and made a bee line to Quilter's Station in Lees Summit.

So many reproductions and a very nice store!!

Thanks for traveling ...

Aurora Quilt Show from Humble Quilts

Good Morning! My photos loaded backwards so we will start with a quilt shop then the quilt show.

Not very many quilts shops in my area carry reproductions. I was happy to find one near the quilt show. They offered 20% off my entire order when I mentioned the quilt show! Bonus!

The greens were my favorites!

The Aurora quilt show is a fun one to attend although I don't think there were as many antique quilts on display. (will share those later this week)

I LOVED this fabric! It really made the quilt pop!

I'm not sure ...

Another Photo Heavy Post! from Humble Quilts

I'd like to share a few quilt shops we went to on our Midwest road trip. And a few other random photos! In no particular order on my blog:

This first one was jammed packed. It is called The Quilted Moose in Gretna, NE

Since nobody is paying me for reviews, I'll just say this was the least friendly quilt store that we shopped.

Loved Country Sampler in Omaha.

Laurie and I had a conversation about what the Midwest is known for other than corn. She convinced me it was pork! I thought if it was true this ...

Here's a look around!

Edita Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts has some beautiful fabric out!

Lots of samples.

There was a special exhibit of Valerie and Jean Wells work.

Recovered from my trip we made it out to the trails near Sisters for a lovely hike along the creek.

Then we stopped for lunch at the winery. What a beautiful ...

Red Barn Quilt Shop from Lovin' Life At The End Of The Dirt Road

I thought I had posted about this little quilt shop at some point, but I can't find a record of it, so this seems like a good time to fix that. The Red Barn Quilt Shop and Retreat Center is just South of Lubbock, in Wolfforth. The first time I went there, I was with a dear friend who now lives in Texas and we try to meet up in Lubbock once a year or so. She's a quilter too so we naturally

Busy Thimble from Humble Quilts

My hubby and I thought it would be a great time to visit Maine in March. (we like off season traveling)
Cyndi, at Busy Thimble, and I chatted before my trip and we set an appointment to meet at the shop!
We arrived a tad early and it was the only time it snowed while we were in Maine. (it added to the ambiance- haha) There had been a big storm a few days before we arrived which hindered any hiking or wandering around.

I opted to "wander" through her amazing shop! I made several loops! lol Isn't it ...

Stitchin' Post from Humble Quilts

It has been so long since I've been to a quilt store. While we were all fairly close while we were retreating we thought we better make a trip! it was nice!

Since I am going trekking in Peru later this year I am starting to do some hard elevation hikes.

Elsa and I did this on Saturday.

You can barely see Elsa a little ahead of me on the snow.

You know you made it to the summit when you find the surveyor's marker.

It actually was nice to be in the sun on the top.

Elsa ...

Stitchin' Post from Humble Quilts

I made a little trip to the Stitchin' Post in Sisters the other day.
The quilt show is jsut a few weeks away and I always like to take a quick breeze through the shop to see it nice and stocked up.

As a kid he remembers many times waiting for mom while she was in a quilt shop! lol Now he comes in and browses. He was looking at the books about visible mending. Remember that? No? Check it out HERE

Enjoy the tour through the quilt shop in Sisters, Oregon.

Are any of you coming to the Outdoor ...

Busy Thimble from Humble Quilts

If I was going to have a quilt shop, I'd want it to look just like this!
It was a little rainy heading from Portland to Litchfield for our appointment to shop at Cyndi's quilt shop.

The link to Cyndi's blog- HERE.

Filled with lots of quilts and almost exclusively reproduction fabric!

Cyndy's potholder quilt! Amazing reproduction.

Oh yes!

Here is Cascadia, one of my quiltalongs.

So simple but effective and so sweet!

Wendy, of The Constant Quilt blog, came to visit as well! I was as thrilled as I could be being able to meet ...

Mill House Spring Quilt from Curlicue Creations

This sweet pink and white Mill House Spring quilt is available for purchase in my Etsy shop.

This quilt is quilted with matching color thread in pebbles, back and forth lines, and onion swirl motifs.

This quilt would be a lovely soft focal point in any room as a wall quilt.

The 41" x 49" size also makes it great for traditional use as a baby or lap quilt.

The Mill House Spring quilt features a sweet and pretty in pink traditional hourglass design framed with gold and green borders.

This quilt includes a hanging sleeve so it can be ...

the shop from Quilt Nut Creations

I mentioned last week that I opened a quilt store, here's the details!

We built the store in our backyard.

We moved my quilt machine inside, yes I'll still be longarming!

2 quilts my great grandma made, the bottom one my grandma made for me in the 80s.

Some of the fabric shelves.

Have you heard about the BC flooding?
The rest of my fabrics are stuck on the other side of the flood :(

I love the back wall.
And the perfect spot for my machine.

The store is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 10-3, by appointment.

celebrate on . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I may have shared that I give as much time as my birthday wants to be celebrated. A week where you only work two days and have the next five free is as good a time to continue celebrating as any! I gave a whole post to the Tate Farms fun, but I'll condense the remainder of the long weekend here. Mostly.  I think.

Thursday, the weather continued to be beautiful, and since a wet, cool front was moving in on Friday, our regular boat day, Todd and I decided to go ahead and get our lake action in ...
